BIO: Murray was born and raised on a grain and livestock farm in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Until 1975, he purchased, directed and managed a personally owned farming operation before and after finishing an undergraduate degree in agriculture from Iowa State University. After working as a district sales manager with Allied Mills, a division of Continental Grain Company, Murray assumed the position of Vice-President of the Sandage Companies where he was involved in all aspects of agricultural sales and property management. In 1985, Murray formed the Westchester Group where he currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. During his agricultural career, Murray earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois. In addition, he has attended the London School of Economics and Harvard Agribusiness seminars. Murray is the author of two books on agricultural real estate. Investing in Farmland, published in 1989, helped define the opportunities and methods of farmland investment. The second, Farmland Investment Strategy: The Opportunity of the 1990's, was published in 1993 and is considered the definitive guide to farmland investment strategies for pension fund investors. As founder and chairman of his own company, Murray is responsible for overall asset and business strategy and is integrally involved in underwriting new investments. Murray is a professional member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, and a member of the American Society of Agricultural Consultants.
