Dr. Ken Ostlie
BIO: Ken Ostlie is a Professor of Entomology and Extension Entomologist at University of Minnesota, where he joined the faculty in 1984 after completing a Ph.D. in Entomology from Iowa State University, an M.S. in Ecology from Utah State University, and B.A. degrees in Biology and Mathematics from Luther College. His research, extension education, and graduate training activities have embraced the biology, ecology and management of corn and soybean insects. As a public scientist, his goal has been to improve the management of corn and soybean insects by understanding the ecological, agronomic and economic impacts of insect management options. He currently focuses his extension and research efforts on transgenic corn resistant to caterpillars and corn rootworms and soybean aphid. His youth on a Minnesota cash grain farm has anchored his professional career.
