With some 3 million acres more corn that soybeans in Illinois, and not many acres of other crops, some 20 percent of Illinois corn follows corn. But continuous corn has in some areas of Illinois taken some serious yield hits in both 2010 and 2011, giving some reason to wonder if this is still a viable production system. We’ll review some of the comparisons we have underway in research trials, and will try to figure out what went wrong, and what we might do to fix it.
