Featured Presentation
A fundamental principle in IPM is that the greater the effectiveness of a tactic used to control a pest, the more likely that pest will evolve resistance and overcome that control tactic. A control tactic can be the application of a chemical insecticide, crop rotation, or the planting of Bt crops. This presentation will highlight a variety of general issues that stakeholders must face when trying to manage a pest and its damage over the long-term (i.e., more than 10 years). Lessons for the case of the western corn rootworm will be emphasized, but discussion concerning soybean aphid and other corn pests will be encouraged.
